Play The Harmonica The Easy Way

My mother gave me this book with a harmonica in it for Christmas several years ago and I just loved it. I busted the harmonica out of the box and opened the guidebook immediately. She giggled as I tried to figure out where to match up the notes to the song page that I had turned to. I believe the first song I tried out was “When The Saints Go Marching In.” It will take a lot of practice for me to play fluidly without a cheat sheet, but so far it has just been noisy fun.

I love old classic folks songs and the harmonica is a great way to play them without having a lot of equipment to drag around with you. BreathingĀ is the most important part. It fits easily into pocket or purse and can be taken anywhere. I think that this would be a great way to introduce music to a child or a talented individual. Classic folk songs are a great way to get to know this or any instrument. I would love to learn songs like “You Are My Sunshine”, “Red River Valley” and “Oh, Suzannah!” These would all be great ways to practice playing. Wouldn’t they be wonderful to share around a campfire?

Although folk songs are my favorites, musical artists like Alanis Morrisette and Neil Young have made harmonica riffs part of their music. Blues is filled with it, too. There are many ways to apply harmonica music to any genre. Apply the beginning lessons to your practice sessions to let you graduate to more complicated music later.

The harmonica above would be a great gift for a child, but the following articles and items are perfect for anyone who is serious about playing.
